Many of our radiators and towel rails are available made to order in a choice of custom colours and finishes. The guide below explains these custom options. Please note that all made-to-order products, including custom colour radiators, have longer lead times for delivery.
RAL Colours
The RAL colour system allows for colour matching across different paints, coatings and plastics. With a RAL colour reference you can be sure you are getting the same colour across different products.
RAL colour references include both a colour number and a colour name, eg, RAL 9016 Traffic White. For the best results, we recommend searching and/or referring to a colour using both, which helps to avoid mistakes from transposed or mistyped number codes.
With 216 colours in the RAL Classic range and more than 2000 more in the extended Design and Effect ranges, the RAL system gives an enormous amount of choice for custom colour schemes. We can have many of our heating products painted in your choice of RAL colour and will provide a price quotation on request. Please be aware that some RAL colours are more expensive than others.
The image below shows an approximation of a few RAL colours, but it's important to note that RAL colours cannot be rendered totally accurately on screen, so if in doubt, please refer to official printed samples available from various suppliers.
RALcolorchart.com also gives a good onscreen approximation of the full range of RAL colours.
Micrograin & Metallic Micrograin Texture
Micrograin texture is a sandy finish paint that is available on request in any RAL colour. It provides a surface that is slightly rough to the touch and a very visually flat, matt colour without sheen, similar to matt wall paint.
Metallic micrograin texture paint includes an additional metallic fleck in the sandy texture. It is a subtle change and most noticeable with darker colours such as black or charcoal where it helps to reflect some light from the dark matt surface. It is not a glitter effect.
Crocodile Texture
Crocodile texture is an irregular crackle texture that is available on request in any RAL colour. The surface is highly textured with a slight sheen and the many creases and ridges create shadows and highlights that make the colour appear variable and mottled.
Crocodile texture is only available on selected aluminium products.
Wood Effect Texture
Wood Effect texture is an applied surface that mimics the grain pattern of natural wood. Available in a choice of Teak, Mahogany, Walnut or Oak, it is most effective when applied to products with a ridged surface which supports the illusion of woodgrain.
Wood Effect Texture is only available on selected aluminium products.
Anodised Finishes
Some aluminium products are also available without applied paint or texture in a choice of Gloss Anodised, Matt Anodised or custom Other Anodised finishes. Gloss Anodised aluminium is a polished metal surface with a silvery sheen less reflective than chrome. Matt Anodised is a satiny silver metallic finish, softer and less reflective than brushed stainless steel. Colours can also be applied for specific design needs or to create the illusion of other metals such as antique bronze.
Anodised finishes are only available on selected aluminium products.
Stainless Steel PVD Finishes
Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) is a method of vacuum bonding colour to a surface. This results in an ultra-thin layer of colour that is extremely durable and resistant to abrasion without obscuring the intrinsic appearance or sculptural definition of the material beneath. Custom PVD finishes add a layer of translucent colour to our AEON stainless steel heating products with a choice of metallic tones from luxurious Gold through traditional Antique Bronze and Copper to contemporary Black. All eight colours are available in both Polished and Brushed Matt options.
Please note that because the application of PVD is a manual process, the final depth of colour may vary slightly from batch to batch.
PVD finishes are only available on selected stainless steel products.
